Un evento del océano azul, o el Ártico libre de hielo, es la fuente de la especulación casi febril en el mundo de la ciencia del clima. Las consecuencias de la desaparición del hielo marino del océano ártico, aunque brevemente, al final de una temporada de verano en un futuro no muy lejano, son potencialmente muy inquietantes por la forma en que organizamos nuestras estructuras socioeconómicas humanas en la actualidad.
